Published purpose

This project contributes to the respect of the right to health, including sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls affected by the conflict in the northern regions of Burkina Faso, with a focus on internally displaced populations and host communities. This project supports improved and equitable access to health care services for conflict-affected populations, particularly women and girls and populations in remote locations, by building the capacity of community-based health care delivery structures and systems. Based on a community-based approach, the project aims to reduce gender inequalities and address sexual and reproductive rights, gender-based violence and women's decision-making power, while contributing to the plan to respond to the COVID-19 epidemic in insecure areas. Project activities include: (1) implementing primary health care and sexual and reproductive health and rights services, including gender-based violence management and care, mental health and psychosocial services for conflict-affected populations, including IDPs and host communities; (2) implementing community health strategies, including direct service delivery in conflict-affected communities; (3) providing technical assistance to health authorities to respond to and manage disease outbreaks, including COVID-19; and (4) engaging with men and adolescents to change community attitudes and beliefs about the right to health, gender equality and gender-based violence, particularly among host communities and IDPs.
