Published purpose

This project aims to contribute to a future of peace and reconciliation in Mozambique with no resurgence of military hostilities between the Government and Renamo (opposition group). This project works to support peace and reconciliation activities, such as the demobilization, disarmament and reintegration (DDR) of 5,000 former combatants, and augment the reconciliation strategy towards peaceful, sustainable governance throughout the country. The project also aims to provide a diverse range of capabilities including technical, logistical and administrative support to both the peace and DDR processes. These include a particular focus on gender, and facilitates the reintegration of Renamo ex-combatants into society.
