Published purpose
The project supports one of the three Canadian-based Indigenous Permanent Participants of the Arctic Council, the Gwich'in Council International (GCI), in its engagement in the Arctic Council. GCI participates in the Arctic Council's activities, including the Senior Arctic Officials Meetings. In addition, GCI participates in and co-leads projects within the Sustainable Development Working Group, that aims to advance issues of concern to the Gwich'in Nation, notably related to renewable energy, health, climate change, and Indigenous knowledge. It also works to support the continued institutional development of GCI, including their Strategic Plan.
