Published purpose

This project addresses the adverse impact that some United Nations sanctions regimes could have on humanitarian action. It does this by examining the difficulties faced by humanitarian actors when trying to effectively deliver assistance in areas where the United Nations al Qaeda and Daesh sanctions regime applies, while also identifying concrete solutions for the United Nations Security Council to address these problems. Project activities include: (1) facilitating a closed-door, multi-stakeholder dialogue; (2) conducting interviews with humanitarian and sanctions-related stakeholders; and (3) developing a concrete set of recommendations to reduce the impact of the United Nations al Qaeda and Daesh sanctions regime on humanitarian action, including the impact of these sanctions on women and girls.
