Published purpose

Canada provides budget support to the Government of Mozambique in order to contribute to the reduction of absolute poverty and to encourage rapid, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth through the implementation of its 2015-2019 Five-Year Plan (PQG 2015-2019). Activities undertaken through the PQG 2015-2019 include improving budget planning for poverty reduction, delivery of basic social services, strengthening technical and managerial expertise, and improving public financial management and oversight. As with all budget support initiatives, Canada works in close cooperation with other donors and with the Government of Mozambique to increase the efficient and transparent use of public resources, promote donor coordination, and strengthen mutual accountability. General budget support also provides the opportunity for Canada, the Government of Mozambique, and other donor partners to engage in productive policy dialogue, helping to focus on long-term development goals.
