Published purpose

The objective of the Electoral Transition Support envelope of $19.5 million is to contribute to national efforts to strengthen democracy and good governance in Haiti. Its goal is to support, on the request of the legitimate Haitian authorities, electoral processes to guarantee the organization of free, transparent, and fair elections. The envelope supports the electoral transition to a democratically elected government in Haiti between 2009-2016 by providing technical and material support to the Provisional Electoral Council and other key national electoral bodies. There are several components and various implementing partners of this initiative. This component is managed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which provides technical and material support to Haitian authorities during electoral processes through a multi-donor basket fund to which the Haiti Government contributes.
