Published purpose
The project supports the implementation of the Strategic Plan of Comprehensive Community-Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT), a Tanzanian non-governmental organization and one of the only providers of health services to disabled Tanzanians. Some of the major activities of the Strategic Plan are: provision of quality preventive, curative and rehabilitative services to people living with disabilities, particularly children and women in underserved areas; human resources and capacity development; outreach, advocacy and awareness-raising on disability issues; and ensuring that adequate infrastructure and medical equipment are available to vulnerable groups. Through this project and the work of CCBRT, disabled and vulnerable Tanzanians, including women and children in particular, are expected to see improved quality gender-sensitive preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
