Published purpose

This project improves access to education for conflict-affected children and youth in the Colombian departments of Cauca, Caquetá and Nariño. Access to quality education helps children and youth resist recruitment by illegal armed groups and participation in criminal activities. Project activities include: (1) reintegrating out-of-school children and youth into the regular school system or the flexible education model, which provides afterschool access; (2) helping schools and secretariats of education develop education improvement plans that enhance curricula and pedagogical approaches; and (3) implementing a pedagogy of peacebuilding and non-violence in the classroom. The consortium Save the Children Canada, and the Norwegian Refugee Council implemented the project.
