Published purpose

This project aims to support sustainable agro-economic development in the districts of Jaffna, Killinochchi and Mullaitivu in Northern Province, Sri Lanka. Project activities include: (1) increasing skills for employment; (2) strengthening entrepreneurship skills of women, men and youth; and (3) increasing engagement in sustainable local development, including the production, processing and marketing of agricultural products. The beneficiaries are poor and marginalized persons, most of whom were displaced by the civil war that ended in 2015, with a particular emphasis on women and youth. This is one of two parts of the Agro-economic Development Project, which has a total budget of $6 million.
