Published purpose

This project aims to support sustainable agro-economic development in the districts of Jaffna, Killinochchi and Mullaitivu in Northern Province, Sri Lanka. Project activities include: (1) improving the market-oriented production of resettled farmers, seed producers, nursery keepers, and primary processors; (2) improving milk production by livestock farmers; and (3) strengthening the agriculture extension system. The beneficiaries are poor and marginalized persons, most of whom were displaced by the civil war that ended in 2015, with a particular emphasis on women and youth. This is one of two parts of the Agro-economic Development Project, which has a total budget of $6 million.
