Published purpose
The project aims to support and reinforce the efforts of national governments, the United Nations (UN) and other international and regional organizations to better understand conflict dynamics in key crisis contexts, to build lasting peace and prevent and contain the outbreak of further conflict, and by development and dissemination of detailed analysis and advice on specific policy issues in fragile states. The International Crisis Group (ICG) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation committed to preventing and resolving deadly conflict. The organization’s mission is to prevent and resolve deadly conflict around the world by influencing policy makers and other key conflict actors by providing expert, independent, field-based analysis of conflict and potential conflicts, and by advocating effective policy solutions. Project activities include: (1) workshops for policy makers and other stakeholders on current conflict situations; (2) briefings and advocacy sessions for senior officials to mobilize support for recommendations to build peace and prevent conflict; and (3) develop and disseminate detailed analysis and advice on specific policy issues in fragile states.
