Published purpose

This project is part of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES). The IYIP contributes to the YES by providing a large spectrum of Canadian graduates with valuable international development work experience abroad, needed to launch successful careers. SOCODEVI’s initiative involves recruiting 34 interns, twinned with 12 projects, to support almost 100 local partners in Peru, Guatemala, Colombia, Honduras, Bolivia, Vietnam, Senegal and Ukraine, in promoting their sustainable economic growth, as well as advancing democracy, through the support of cooperatives and other types of associations. Interns contribute to the development of economically sound, egalitarian and sustainable organizations of producers, and to the benefit of their group members.
