Published purpose
This project aims to enhance criminal justice preparedness to counter-terrorism and its financing in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV). Project activities include: (1) enhancing law enforcement’s abilities to detect and disrupt terrorist movement and activities through the delivery of one sub-regional workshop for frontline officers on emerging terrorist threats and four training courses on counter-terrorism investigations and prosecution; (2) providing technical inputs on the criminal justice response to terrorism for the development of a comprehensive “training curriculum” for the National Training Center for Counter-Terrorism in Vietnam; (3) strengthening counter-terrorist financing capabilities through the implementation of a long-term “Train-the-Trainers (ToT) Course on Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT)” in Vietnam and Cambodia, along with the implementation of a ToT programme on CFT in Laos; and (4) promoting and strengthening regional level cooperation on CT matters by supporting Lao’s production of “Implementation Manual for the Extradition Law” which acts as a tool for effective enforcement of Lao’s Extradition Law.
