Published purpose

This project provides professional services, expert support and technical advice to member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the ASEAN Secretariat. It seeks to enable them to better prevent, detect and respond to potential emerging infectious disease outbreaks, whether naturally occurring, accidental or deliberate in origin. Project activities included: (1) providing technical and scientific advice to ASEAN partners; (2) identifying ongoing opportunities for synergy across all of Canada’s funded biosecurity initiatives in the AEAN region; (3) ensuring the participation of Canadian experts in regional meetings; and (4) developing a strategy to create better linkages between ASEAN and African partners with other initiatives, including the Global Health Security Agenda, and with other regional and global programs and projects funded by Canada.
