Published purpose

This project aims to support the demining activity in Colombia by providing training, logistical, technical, and administrative support to the Colombian government’s institutional humanitarian demining authority. The project also works to provide on-site monitoring and post-clearance inspections of land for all demining activities conducted by military and civilian organizations accredited to operate in Colombia, as well as community liaison activities with local authorities, integral mine-risk education, and identification of landmine victims who have not been registered or assisted by the government. Project activities include: (1) providing technical, logistical and administrative support to demining teams; (2) conducting on-site monitoring of demining teams for quality assurance and inspection of cleared sights; (3) conducting community liaison with local authorities and affected populations; (4) conducting mine risk education in communities where clearance operations are undertaken; and (4) identifying landmine victims to provide access to services.
