Published purpose
Canada's Arctic coastline is critically under-mapped: less than 16% of its nearshore waters have been adequately surveyed, creating navigational hazards and constraining Canada's Arctic defence readiness. Arctus Inc. will develop an AI-driven system combining satellite data to produce Satellite-Derived Topobathymetry (SDTB) products for Arctic coastal communities. Demonstration maps for selected northern communities will be produced for which in situ data is available through an established partnership with the academic sector. The result is a made-in-Canada capability with dual-use value for national security, community safety, and climate adaptation.
