Published purpose

This project provides support to the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UN PBF)’s Immediate Response Facility (IRF). The IRF is providing fast, flexible and relevant funding to countries to help prevent relapse into conflict and sustain peace. The IRF is used in situations where swift action is required for immediate peacebuilding and recovery needs, and allows the UN PBF to respond in a timely manner to crises situations. The IRF also responds to emerging crises and where there are opportunities to support peace processes, typically before other donor funds are available, laying a foundation for the possibility of expanding to medium or long-term support. In addition to countries emerging from conflict or at risk of relapsing into conflict, the IRF is providing funding to countries that are on the agenda of the UN Peacebuilding Commission.
