Published purpose
The project supports the Observatoire Boutros-Ghali du maintien de la paix, which seeks greater representation of personnel with French-language proficiency in peacekeeping operations conducted by the United Nations in Francophone countries. The Observatoire helps state contributors of French-language personnel to gain a better understanding of peacekeeping-related issues. It provides a framework for exchanges between Francophone personalities and experts with the objective of strengthening dialogue among states engaged in peacekeeping, the Security Council and the United Nations Secretariat. The activities conducted by the Observatoire include: (1) helping Francophone states in preparing their engagement in peacekeeping operations; (2) coordinating an international network of experts, including producing events; and (3) conducting inquiries in Africa and publishing research analyses and articles on peacekeeping.
