Published purpose
This project supports the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in the delivery of the tabletop exercise “Operation STONE” (Stop Trafficking of Nuclear Elements), by providing technical support from subject matter experts of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to a counter-nuclear smuggling capacity in the Caribbean. It aims to strengthen national capacities in the Bahamas, Jamaica and Panama, to detect and respond to security incidents involving nuclear or radiological materials. Project activities include: (1) delivering training to law enforcement, customs, nuclear regulators and other stakeholder agencies; and (2) facilitating national efforts to establish inter-agency working groups to better prepare for a possible security incident involving nuclear or radiological materials.
