Published purpose

This project aims to support international efforts to develop biological containment facilities that are safer, more sustainable, and better suited for countries with limited resources. Project activities include: (1) establishing an advisory group for the project; (2) publishing a guidance document summarizing possible options; (3) presenting the guidance document at the 3rd African conference on emerging infectious diseases and biosecurity in Accra, Ghana, in August 2017; (4) presenting project progress at the 2nd Global conference of the World Organisation for Animal Health on reducing biological threats in Ottawa, Canada, in October-November 2017; and (5) sharing the latest project updates at the annual meeting of the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction in Rome, Italy, in November 2017.
