July 2017 - The humanitarian situation in Cameroon continues to be of deep concern and affects millions of vulnerable people. In the Far North region, 1.6 million people are in need of assistance following conflict and insecurity related to Boko Haram. Of this total, 1.5 million require emergency food assistance. Close to 300,000 people are currently displaced in the area. With GAC’s support, Development and Peace is helping to assist close to 11,420 conflict-affected people in the Far North region. Project activities include: (1) providing unconditional cash transfers to support livelihood activities for up to 567 affected households; (2) constructing or rehabilitating up to 350 shared-household latrines, benefitting up to 1,050 households, and (3) carrying sensitization campaigns around safe hygiene and sanitation practices, reaching up to 8,085 people.
