Published purpose

This project aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health of adolescent girls and young women in the Haut-Sassandra region of Côte d'Ivoire. Project activities include: (1) establishing community-based mechanisms with civil society organizations for the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of adolescents and out-of-school youth, including comprehensive sexuality education; (2) providing training to teachers and managers in the implementation of revised curricula incorporating a gender lens, SRHR, environmental sustainability, and information and communication technologies; and (3) networking between health promoting schools, civil society organizations (including women's and youth organizations), first contact health facilities, the National Institute for Training of Health Workers and other authorities to exchange and consult on action to promote SRHR. This project aims to directly benefit more than 8,000 adolescent girls and young women and indirectly benefit 20,000 people, including parents, teachers, health personnel and members of the target communities.
