Published purpose
This project helps to build the institutional capacity of China’s National Bureau of Statistics so that it can provide data relevant to the Millennium Development Goals and other international economic, environmental, and social agreements. The project focuses on measures that increase transparency, accountability, and compliance in data collection and analysis in order to support broader governance priorities. Expected results include an integrated system of household surveys, an improved system for compiling economic data, and a new system of environmental-economic accounts. The project includes visits to China by Canadian experts to facilitate the transfer of knowledge about international and Canadian best practices. The capacity of China's National Bureau of Statistics is enhanced through activities such as training in survey design, methodologies for data collection, business registration, and the review of environmental data.
