Published purpose
The Social and Economic Research Consortium is an umbrella organization that brings together over 30 social and economic research institutions in Peru. Through this project, the Consortium's capacity to pursue its mandate of contributing to policy development in Peru is strengthened. The project enhances the level of national debate on key economic and social policy alternatives. It bolsters the academic community in order to produce and disseminate useful knowledge for analysts and decision-makers in the public sector, civil society, academia, and international cooperation. The project supports public sector reform, public administration, and decentralization, in line with the Government of Peru's priorities, which are also stated in CIDA's bilateral Programming Plan for Peru. The project also coincides with Peru's goal to have access to better information from around the country. The project is funded jointly with the International Development Research Centre.
