Published purpose
The Vanni Rehabilitation Project represents one component of the larger ongoing initiative - the Transition Recovery Program in Sri Lanka - being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The overall objective of the project is to facilitate the sustainable resettlement of returnees and reduce tensions within and between targeted communities by improving their socio-economic conditions. The project is being implemented in five Secretariat Divisions in Mullaitivu and Killinochchi districts, and targets 3,000 beneficiary families who are currently being resettled. It consists of an early recovery component followed by a longer-term recovery component.
