Published purpose

The Pan-Africa Bean Research Alliance (PABRA) focuses on improving bean crop production in order to increase the nutrition and food security of rural populations (with a focus on women and children). PABRA is a pan-African research and development alliance comprising three regional networks operating in 24 countries in Eastern, Central, Southern and Western Africa, an international agricultural research centre, donors and other public, private and non-governmental organization. This phase IV of the project (PABRA IV) contributes directly to one of the four components of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) encompassing agricultural research, as well as technology dissemination and adoption. PABRA supports improved nutrition, health, gender equality and food security in several African countries through the development and dissemination of bean varieties that are resistant to drought, disease and pests.
