Published purpose

This project aims to enhance the impact of the Permanent Interstates Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) in West African food security (access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food), desertification control, and natural resource and water management. The purpose of the project is to build the CILSS’ capacity to carry out its mandate effectively and to ensure its long-term financial sustainability, allowing it to become a specialized arm of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The project provides training and counseling services in: leadership and management; human resources management; administration and finance; communications; planning and monitoring and evaluation. Project activities support knowledge sharing and help implement organizational development, strategic and operational planning tools.
