Published purpose

This project contributed to reducing rural poverty in Nicaragua. Its objectives included improving the ability of vulnerable groups to expand their agricultural production through increased access to clean water, and sanitation services and electricity, and through support for agricultural initiatives. The project worked with national ministries to support the implementation of initiatives at the municipal level, drawing on the experience of local development organizations. <p> Project funding is provided through the monetization of Canadian products such as potash on the Central American market. The proceeds are credited to the Support Fund for Local Opportunities. This fund provided both financial and technical support to the initiatives being implemented.
