Phase III of the Support to Haitian Savings and Credit Co-operatives project (ACOOPECH) continues previous support for Haiti’s cooperative banking movement. Phase III involves creating an association of credit unions (Fédération Le Levier) to provide credit unions with the basic services they need to ensure their viability. This phase focuses on institutional strengthening and governance, modernizing operations, and managing the achievement of results. The project also aims to support the institutions legislated in 2002 to provide oversight and monitoring of the cooperative banking sector. This means implementing a system for managing credit union accreditation, strengthening the legal and regulatory framework, and strengthening the monitoring framework.
