Published purpose

The purpose of the Health and Education Fund - Phase II (FSE II) was to improve the quality, accessibility, and governance of basic education and primary health care services for poor communities. The fund aimed to provide equal access to primary health care and basic education for both women and men. It also aimed to improve the overall health and the level of education of the target clienteles. After the earthquake on January 12, 2010, six local funds in Haiti, including this one, were realigned to support rapid recovery projects that respond to the immediate needs of Haitians affected by the earthquake in the communes of Léogâne and Jacmel, displaced persons and host communities in the Central and Artibonite departments, and relief support for initiatives in Port-au-Prince. Projects focused on children and youth, food security, and economic growth, in line with priorities set out in the Action Plan for National Recovery and Development of Haiti, and were implemented by locally-based Haitian organizations.
