Published purpose

This project focuses on the coastal and marine environment and resources of Tomini Bay, on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. Its objective is to assist Indonesia in the protection and creation of sustainable livelihoods through equitable access to and sustainable management of natural resources. The project aims to: establish Tomini Bay ecosystem governance mechanisms; improve local capacity to manage coastal and marine resources sustainability and equitably; and introduce information systems to enhance sustainable natural resource management. By strengthening the capacity of local communities and governments (at the village, district and provincial levels), the project contributes to the development and implementation of participatory governance mechanisms that facilitate sustainable resource management for economic benefit.
