Published purpose

Through this project, non-formal education and life skills training are provided to adolescents in Bangladesh. The project aims to improve the quality and delivery of education services appropriate to the needs of poor adolescents, in particular girls, and to increase their access to those services. The project targets 54,000 poor and marginalized adolescents (80 percent girls) aged 11-17 years from rural communities in 9 districts of Bangladesh. The project provides basic education, life skills, and employment skills training to these adolescents; promotes research, networking, and community dialogue to increase public support for services for adolescents and recognition of their human rights; and enhances the capacity of 48 local non-governmental organizations to design, deliver, and sustain programming for adolescents.
