Published purpose

The project aims to reduce maternal mortality in three departments of the country, through public health activities. It provides technical assistance, family planning, emergency obstetrical care, and the supply of inputs. The project is implemented by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in support of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP). The project helps improve access to quality services for women and improve the management of high-risk pregnancies. It complements other health system development projects by ensuring that operating rooms of targeted hospitals and maternity wards are up and running, and that emergency blood transfusions can be performed.
