Published purpose

The purpose of the project is to build the capacity of select national and provincial institutions to effectively manage industrial pollution. At a national level, the project strengthens the capacity of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to support provinces in carrying out newly decentralized environmental management responsibilties. It also provides support in the development of improved industrial pollution policies and regulatory frameworks. The project primarily works at local levels to support provinces in improved environmental expenditure management capacity, increased technical capacity to implement industrial pollution prevention measures and improved compliance with, and enforcement of, environmental regulations.
