Published purpose
This project provides support for professional development of health care workers and planners, through the Government of Tanzania's Health Sector Basket Fund. Through this support, health professionals receive in-service training on essential health interventions that have been proven to be critically effective and efficient in the delivery of health care at the local level. With these tools and knowledge, health care workers and planners who are responsible for health care delivery across the country are better equipped to prevent, diagnose and treat illness among the Tanzanian population. This project builds on the success of the Tanzania Essential Health Intervention Project (TEHIP, 1998-2004), through which Canada's International Development Research Centre and the Tanzanian Ministry of Health developed and tested a number of tools and training modules for evidence-based health care planning and delivery.
