The project aims to increase girls' access to, and success in, primary and middle school education, and to improve the quality of education for all students, boys and girls. It seeks to improve the governance of the education system through building the capacity of district education officials. Partnerships with communities, parents, and teachers are strengthened to increase girls' participation in education. The project is being implemented in selected districts of Balochistan and Northwest Frontier Provinces, focusing on districts where the funding gaps and education needs are particularly pronounced. The project aims to increase the number of girls enrolled in primary education and completing grade five; increase girls' enrolment in and completion of middle school; reduce the gender gap in school attendance up to grade 8; improve girls' learning achievements in primary and middle education; and increase the number of girls completing primary and middle school with the levels of self confidence, skills, and knowledge required to live better lives.
