Published purpose
The REDES project ("redes" means networks, in Spanish) aims to improve the health status of selected vulnerable communities in Honduras by strengthening primary health care programming and expanding the coverage of health services. The goal of the project is to improve the health of children under the age of five and women of reproductive age in rural communities in the Departments of Copan and Santa Barbara. It focuses on decreasing maternal, perinatal and infant mortality. Project activities strengthen networks for community health and build the capacity of communities, health services, municipal and local governing bodies, social actors and local Red Cross branches to provide primary health care services.
