Published purpose

This project aims to improve child survival and maternal health in Ethiopia by ensuring that quality basic health services reach more mothers and children under age five. The activities funded by CIDA consist of procuring and distributing essential drugs, supplies and medical equipment. This is one component of a larger multi-donor program. Contributions from other donors and from the Government of Ethiopia help ensure that health facilities are properly staffed and maintained. Specifically, CIDA's contribution is designed to result in a more timely and complete supply of medical commodities (e.g. vaccines, anti-malarial bed-nets, clean childbirth kits) and equipment (e.g. microscopes, instrument sterilizers, obstetric equipment) at frontline health facilities throughout Ethiopia. All CIDA disbursements for this project have been completed.
