Published purpose

This project is designed to alleviate poverty in select communities of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) through improved livelihoods, basic development services, income-generating opportunities and improved local governance. The project works to strengthen up to 100 traditional indigenous community organizations (representing up to 30,000 individuals) and gradually make them more broad-based and inclusive. The project also provides strategic support designed to improve livelihoods within the context of the local economy, with a focus on infrastructure and activities that improve crop and livestock productivity, as well as community schools, adult literacy centres ,and health services in accordance with community needs. Finally, the project supports a strengthened interface between community organizations and relevant local government bodies.
