Rights and Democracy

Published purpose

Following the earthquake of January 2010, the project was redesigned to align more fully with Haiti's Action Plan for the National Recovery and Development, as well as CIDA's priorities. The project now aims to protect children against violence and abuse of their rights and to support the inclusion of youth, marginalized groups and vulnerable populations in the recovery process. The project activities include: support to the Office for the Protection of Citizen's Rights in Haiti; support for girls and women who are victims of violence; support for the registration of children via the national registry system; support for incarcerated youth; and dissemination and awareness workshops to stimulate wide participation of young citizens in the national reconstruction of Haiti.
