Published purpose
With this project, Save the Children Canada and the Norwegian Refugee Council support the implementation of four pedagogical models. Three of the models relate to alternative educational opportunities for out-of-school indigenous, Afro-Colombian, displaced, and generally vulnerable children, youth, and adults: Learning Circles, High Schools for Peace, and Integral Literacy for Adults. The fourth model relates to direct intervention in public schools: the Child-Centered Educational Model. All activities are developed in five municipalities of the Nariño Department, which borders on Ecuador and is an emerging area of conflict. Boys, girls, youth, and adults receive high-quality relevant education appropriate to their needs, which means they develop abilities and skills to: understand their reality and redefine their personal goals; effectively communicate and deal with conflicts in a civil manner; and take part in public affairs and contribute to strengthening democracy and peace.
