Published purpose

This project aims to promote sustainable and equitable growth, and improved quality of life for Tanzanians. It continues support to the World Bank mechanism that provides direct financing, in the form of general budget support, to Tanzania's national budget to assist the Government of Tanzania to implement its National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty. The project is designed to support activities such as: preparation and enactment of new legislation (e.g. Audit Bill, Environmental Management Act); development and maintenance of infrastructures such as rural roads and irrigation systems; training and recruitment of teachers and health professionals; procurement of equipment and supplies, including medicines and learning materials; reform of the public service pay and allowances structures; and the establishment of more transparent and accountable systems for sustainable national resource management.
