Published purpose

The project seeks to improve monitoring and control of public spending, to give citizens greater access to their government’s financial information, to improve transparency in natural resources management and to build the Government’s capacity to combat corruption. This project provides budget support and technical assistance to the Government of Senegal in implementing its national development strategy. As with all budget support initiatives, Canada works in close cooperation with other donors and the Government of Senegal to promote the transparency and effectiveness of national systems and to strengthen mutual accountability. This type of support also favours greater policy dialogue among donors, the Government and partners. This helps to strengthen efforts to obtain focused and effective aid, as well as long-term development results. This initiative is monitored and evaluated on an ongoing basis with other donors.
