Published purpose

On August 15, 2007, an earthquake struck Peru's southern coast. Measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale, the earthquake destroyed 50,000 homes and devastated many communities. Overall, more than 200,000 families were affected by the quake. The goal of this project is to support post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction for 2,000 earthquake-affected families in Huancavelica, Peru. The project includes the reconstruction of social and productive infrastructure, improving family incomes through livelihood recovery activities, and institutional strengthening of local governments.
