Published purpose

On August 15, 2007, an earthquake struck Peru's southern coast. Measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale, the earthquake destroyed 50,000 homes and devastated many communities. Overall, more than 200,000 families were affected by the quake. This project is part of the World Bank's Water and Sanitation Program. The goal of the project is to respond to the critical need for technical assistance to plan and manage water and sanitation repairs in urban areas and small towns affected by the earthquake.
