Published purpose
The project aims to increase sustainable economic activity and food security to poor regions in Cuba - specifically the provinces of Las Tunas, Guantanamo and Pinar del Rio (heavily damaged by the hurricanes of 2008). Through the UNDP’s Local Human Development Programme, the project contributes to improving economic opportunities and agricultural production, and strengthening and accelerating decentralization programs of the Ministries of Economy & Planning, and Agriculture. The project funds activities such as training, support services, and income- and production-generating activities, for women and men of targeted poor communities.
