Published purpose

The project goal is to contribute to poverty reduction and economic growth through inclusive, responsible and accountable local governance and participatory community-led development. The program purpose is to improve access to locally and inclusively prioritised public goods and services. This is being achieved by investing in rural development, mobilizing local resources and involving communities in local development and planning. Activities being supported include building roads, irrigation systems and electrification systems which aim to reach all 3,915 villages in Nepal. The Local Governance and Community Development Program (LGCDP) is a national multi-donor program, being implemented by the Government of Nepal's Ministry of Local Development.
