Published purpose
This project aims to strengthen the pandemic readiness of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) member countries in 2009 and 2010. It also aims to address the current emergency situation triggered by a new strain of the Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 virus, which has had an impact on public health care systems and economies in the Americas and globally. Taking into account the additional burden on existing weak public health care systems, this emergency situation requires the immediate bolstering of the response capacity of the affected member countries.
