Published purpose

As a result of the January 12, 2010 earthquake, most government buildings in Port-au-Prince collapsed or were severely damaged. The Haitian government requested Canada's assistance to establish temporary facilities for key ministries and Haitian public servants. The purpose of this project is to establish temporary operational centres for Haitian government ministries, enabling them to more effectively manage and coordinate their response to the earthquake. The temporary administrative base accommodates up to 300 Haitian government employees. It consists of offices equipped with desks, computers, and office supplies; information technology and communications equipment; electricity, water, and cooling systems; and sanitation equipment and facilities. It accommodates the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation, and the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission.
