Published purpose
The project is contributing to the government's efforts to improve the enabling policy and strategic environment for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and restoring and improving social and economic well being of people in two cities and one municipality following the devastation caused by the 2009 floods in Metro Manila. It is strengthening community resilience to the effects of natural calamities and disasters through capacity building of local governments in recovery and gender responsive disaster DRR. The project establishes a people-centered early warning system drawn from international best practice consisting of capacity enhancement in: a) governance and institutional arrangements; b) risk knowledge; c) monitoring and warning system; d) dissemination and communication; e) response capacity; and f) integration of equality between women and men.
